Exposing Deepfakes and Disinformation – The potential of labeling AI-generated and manipulated content

In a world where AI can simulate a phone call from President Joe Biden and deep fakes from Olaf Scholz have been circulating, it is only logical that a debate on the power of manipulated online content is heating up.

It seems clear that we need to label this content and make disinformation visible to users. One current challenge lies in establishing a unified approach on how, when, and by whom this labeling should be done.

I look forward to navigating this complex landscape together with great expertise from Claire Leibowicz, Head of the AI and Media Integrity Program at the Partnership on AI (PAI), Sam Gregory, Executive Director of WITNESS and Dr. Martin Steinebach, Multimedia Security and IT Forensics Researcher.
